|Rich Schefren, Author Of The Internet Business Manifesto And Serial Entrepreneur, Delivers The Longest EJ Insider Exclusive Interview Yet. Here It Is For Your Enjoyment…
|This is one of those interviews where it's more like a movie. Rich Schefren came to my attention through his pioneering report, the Internet Business Manifesto, which I consider a must read for any online marketer.
Before Rich was an internet man, he spent years in very different markets, including clothing retail and hyponsis therapy.
We cover all of these different chapters of Rich's career, however I think the really good stuff came in the last third of the interview, so make sure you listen all the way to the end.
Rich is one of the people I love learning from the most because he teaches how you can remove yourself from your business.
I have always been looking for ways to create a business that I can focus on only doing the activities I enjoy, for short periods of time, and derive a high income from it.
Rich represents some of the best thinking and practical set-up you can apply to realise a goal of a business where you do not have to be the center of everything.
Enjoy this interview and get ready, it's a long one…
Most people know me as a person who makes money from a blog and also teaching others how to do the same with their own blogs.
If you have read EJ since the beginning in 2005, you will know that I have actually had several different online businesses over the years.
While I haven't diversifed offline like Rich Schefren, I have had income streams in very different online niches, including –
- My first success was selling Magic: The Gathering collectable trading cards online
- Next I had a proofreading business called BetterEdit, which helped connect university students with professional academic editors
- I have also bought and sold websites in industries like rap music and miniature motorcycles
All of these projects made me money, some more than others.
During my own entrepreneur's journey I have always strived for three outcomes from my business. They are –
- Doing something I enjoy enough to do it every day
- It has to create time freedom in my life, not suck it all away
- The income is significant and consistent
It hasn't always been easy to have all three of these things present. Plus things change over time, so you need to be nimble. My card game business was fun and allowed me plenty of time, but the money wasn't significant enough.
Later I made enough money and had time freedom with my proofreading business, but I wasn't exactly passionate about the subject.
With blogging, I found something that so far at least, is close to meeting all three outcomes.
Removing Yourself From The Equation
For me the biggest driver as an entrepreneur has always been freedom.
That is why every single business I have built in the past has been focused on how I can leverage a little time for a lot of outcome.
This philosophy led me to coin the phrase the “2 Hour Work Day”.
(You might be saying that sounds an awful lot like a certain 4-Hour Workweek, however I promise you, I had my 2-hour domain name registered before Tim came out with his book.)
The 2 Hour Work Day concept morphed into a fully fledged course (coming soon!), focused primarily on teaching you the three core business models I have used over the last 15 years to create income streams that do not require many hours to maintain.
Hence the “2 Hour” part.
I know how important it is to you to make enough money to eliminate the parts of your life you hate.
That might be working a job you can't stand because you need the money.
Maybe you have bills that keep coming and you would love to be in a situation where you never have to worry about how you are going to pay for them.
Or perhaps you want to be able to travel so you need some kind of income stream that is portable and allows you to be anywhere on the planet for as long as you feel like it.
…And I agree with you, these are all goals I have in my life too!
That's why the “2 Hour Work Day” course focuses not on making millions of dollars with one huge project that takes all your time, but instead how you build income streams that are low labour, portable, and highly leveraged – meaning you personally get a lot out from the time you put in.
I have done this using three specific income models, which I explain in detail inside the 2 Hour Work Day.
If you are looking to create a stable, significant-enough-to-quit-your-job income stream, that once built will only require a few hours to maintain, which you can do from anywhere you have internet access on this planet, the 2 Hour Work Day is for you.
